Shyamla Menon

Shyamla Menon is a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a Member of  the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA). She attended IECA’s Summer Training Institute in July 2014 and earned her Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting through UC Irvine in 2015. She attends IECA and HECA conferences on a regular basis, as part of ongoing professional development. She is Co-Head of IECA's CT Regional Group and helps organize monthly professional development sessions for the group.

 

She holds an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Her prior career was in investment banking. She worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co. in their Fixed Income Division in New York, NY.

Shyamla has extensive experience in advising parents of gifted and academically talented students. She was Co-Head of the Darien Advocates for the Education of the Gifted (DAEG) from 2010-2012. Through DAEG, she currently advises parents of middle school students on various academic enrichment options. She served on the Board of A Better Chance in Darien, providing pro bono college counseling services to ABC Scholars from 2016-2019.

Shyamla visits colleges on a continual basis to stay current with offerings and developments in the admissions arena. She sees 30-40 colleges annually, and has traveled widely across the US to do so. More recently, these have been virtual due to COVID-19.

 

Her advisees have been accepted to a wide range of colleges and universities, ranging from small liberal arts colleges to large public universities, technical institutes, and international universities. She has seen two daughters and a son through the college process.

 

Shyamla is based out of Darien CT and Wilson WY. She is available to work with clients on a remote basis, via Zoom and FaceTime.
